JOHANNESBURG – Banyana Banyana’s 21-player squad will share a R2.4 million bonus after finishing as runners-up at the recent Africa Women’s Cup of Nations tournament in Ghana.

The SA national women’s football side returned home from the event to a hero’s welcome, where the SA Football Association subsequently handed the cheque over to team captain Janine van Wyk.

The amount of money includes all the incentives and bonuses agreed upon prior to the team’s departure for Ghana.

Banyana are currently the toast of the country, with the runners-up spot also guaranteeing them a place in the next Fifa Women’s World Cup, scheduled to be hosted by France next year.

Pledge honoured on arrival.
