As the year draws to a close, the festive season will soon be upon us. With party revellers gearing up for a time of their lives, retailers have a bag of tricks to boot.

Makro kicked off this year’s party season with a launch of its 2018 Festive Liquor Guide at a secret location on Thursday. And in vintage Mzansi Phuza Thursday tradition, booze flowed.

The Makro mother of all parties was hosted in the heart of Jozi, where guests were welcomed to the large estate drink in hand through a long path up the hill to the end of the trail where it all went down.

The shindig was staged over an infinity pool, with guests looking festive in shorts, sunglasses and flowing dresses in keeping with the theme.

To seal it all, liquor stalls formed a wall around the pool area. In the spirit of responsible drinking, organisers encouraged guests to Uber to and from the venue.

The party-goers, including celebrities like radio personality Lerato Kganyago, chef Lucia Mthiyane, Bianca le Grange, Vuyo Dabula and Rosette Ncwana, were treated to good music while tasting various brands that Makro will bring this festive season.

From time to time, elements like the fire dance out on the fields - which could be viewed from a safe distance - were pulled out of the hat to entertain the guests.

A saxophone also remixed hits like Lira’s Feel Good and The Temptations’ My Girl to make sure guests kept their dancing shoes on.

With such a soirée setting the tone, party animals can look forward to a festive season to remember.
