Rubicon Clothing’s Hangwani Nengovhela is living her dream as she takes charge of the fashion industry (move over David Tlale).

Hangwani says she is no newcomer to the field. It’s just that she has shied away from the media. However, recently we saw her on Top Billing where she spoke about her life and work.

The married mom of two says every move she is taking lately is calculated to catapult her fashion house Rubicon into one of the top clothing brands in South Africa and on the continent.

Judging by her elegant designs, there is no doubt Hangwani is ready to take on the best including those who showcase their creations on the catwalks of Milan and Paris.

Lately, she has taken to dressing up big names in the local industry, including businesswoman Basetsana Kumalo, actress Nomzamo Mbatha, celebrities Luthando “LootLove” Shosha, Thando Thabethe and Hulisani Ravele.

Hangwani was unable to talk to The Sunday Independent this week because she was busy preparing her clothing line-up for the prestigious Veuve Clicquot Masters Polo to be held at the Val de Vie Estates in Paarl on March 3.

Nomzamo, who will be hosting the event, will be proudly wearing a Rubicon design. Here’s to Hangwi.
