Cape Town - In a new, exciting and never-been-done-before single debut drop, Cape Town native Jimmy Nevis treated passengers to a cloud nine performance.

Passengers were in for a treat yesterday as the multi-award-nominated Jimmy Nevis serenaded them in song on a FlySafair flight.

Nevis had passengers tapping their feet and snapping their fingers at more than 10 000m among the clouds.

“In a feat that has rarely been attempted before, Nevis brought trumpeter Darren English, guitarist Bradley Prince and percussionist Darren Petersen on board and treated passengers to a once-in-a-lifetime experience, created in the air and landing right at the heart of music fans on board,” the statement said.

Nevis’s publicist, Nidha Narrandes, said that passengers on the flight were “gushing”.

“Passengers really enjoyed it. It was amazing. The first performance was a flight from Cape Town to Johannesburg in the morning yesterday. The second performance was a flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town yesterday afternoon,” Narrandes said.

The Cape Town-born “Heartboxing” hitmaker began his repertoire with some of South Africa’s pop and R&B hits such as “Elephant Shoes”, “Balloon” and “Hey Jimmy” before revealing his new single, “Ayo”. “Ayo” is his first single to his upcoming album. This album promises to be exciting as it marks his 10th year in the music industry.

Nevis said he believes yesterday was a huge success and feels blessed to be doing something he has never done before. He also feels this represents a new era in music, and does not take it for granted.

“Yesterday was a huge success, the cabin crew and pilot were amazing. The passengers were amazing. I feel so blessed to be feeling like I’m in my lane. I’m excited to be sharing music in a new, fun way. My band was with me and I enjoyed every minute of it.”
