Two injured in plane emergency landing in Stellenbosch

Cape Town - A light aircraft made an emergency landing on the R44 close to Winery Road in Stellenbosch leaving two passengers injured.

No fatalities were reported, according to ER24.

“It is believed that two patients have been involved,” spokesperson Russel Meiring told Weekend Argus.

“Local authorities are on the scene and the exact details surrounding the incident are not yet known,” he said.

“Our teams are investigating this further.”

The plane made an emergency landing, Weekend Argus understands.

ER24, Western Cape Fire and Metro Rescue services arrived to find the wrecked aircraft in the middle of the busy road.

Two men were seen seated near the aircraft.

It is to be believed that one of them was found with serious injuries and the other had minor injuries.

The Stellenbosch Municipality confirmed knowing about the incident.

“A light aircraft has crashed on the R44 close to Winery Road,” spokesperson Stuart Grobbelaar said.

"All emergency services have arrived at the scene.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.

“Traffic will be diverted at the Annandale intersection.”
