Police continue search for Chatsworth karate instructors attacker

Durban - While funeral arrangements have been finalised, for a Chatsworth karate instructor on Thursday, his attacker has still not been arrested. 

Dheena Reddy,52, who is hearing impaired was with a friend at the Hotel Savera in Chatsworth on March 5 when he was allegedly assaulted. 

He was hit with a bar table on his head and while on the floor he was kicked several times in the abdomen. 

Reddy allegedly drove home after the incident and was rushed to hospital by his family. He died in hospital on Tuesday due to the severity of his injuries. 

The funeral service for Reddy will be held on Friday at his home in Moorton drive, Chatsworth at 10:30 am. He will be cremated at the Clare Estate crematorium. 

Reddy also owned Mahogany Hairdressing salon in Chatsworth. 

Chatsworth police are appealing to the public to assist them track down the person involved in the incident. 

 Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the Station Commander of SAPS Chatsworth, Brigadier Kevin James has been liaising with family members and assures the family that investigators are committed to ensuring that the alleged perpetrator is apprehended and placed before the criminal justice system.
