Undercover cops bust Chatsworth drug dealer with heroine, firearm

Durban -  A suspected drug dealer from Chatsworth was arrested by undercover police officers on Wednesday. 

Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI-Hawks) KwaZulu-Natal spokesperson said police had received information about drug dealing activities at Bevel Place, Moorton in Chatsworth. 

He said an undercover operation was swiftly conducted and the suspect located and a searched.

"A 35-year-old male is due to appear in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court following his arrest by Hawks members from Durban Serious Organised Crime unit together with Crime Intelligence, Shongweni K9 unit and Metro Police Drug Task Team,"Mhlongo said. 

During the search police found 22 heroine capsules and a 9 mm pistol with 10 live rounds of ammunition. 

The alleged dealer was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs as well as possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Mhlongo said the seized firearm will be sent for ballistic test to establish if it was used in the commission of any crime in the country.
