WATCH: Chatsworth restaurant robbed

Durban -  A group of restaurant owners were jovial one moment and the next they were pleading for their lives during a robbery in Chatsworth on Sunday. 

The owners of Copper Chimney restaurant at the Chatsworth Centre were closing shop when a group of armed robbers pushed them back into the store, beat and robbed them. 

Captain Nqobile Gwala, a KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, said the incident happened at 9:30 pm when men carrying guns entered the restaurant at the Chatsworth Centre whilst the manager was in process of locking up the shop. 

"The suspects held up the manager before fleeing with two cellular phones and an undisclosed amount of cash," Gwala said.

In the CCTV video clips taken from outside the store and behind the counter the staff and management were pushed into the store and then kicked to the floor while the robbers waved guns at them. 

Police are appealing to businesses to be more vigilant especially during the opening and closing of businesses.

Chatsworth police are investigating a case of business robbery.
