OPINION - Former Bosasa chief operations officer Angelo Agrizzi is just one person. There are more people like Agrizzi operating in many privately-and state-owned enterprises, and because we are unlikely to get more people like him to come forward and testify, we are never going to know the extent of the rot.

However, it is quite clear that the same type of rot that was prevalent in Bosasa was, and still is, present in most, if not all, state-owned enterprises and organisations like Sars.

This type of conduct is undermining our democracy and sowing the seeds for revolution, chaos and anarchy.

Clearly other parties besides the ANC are involved. What we need is a completely new forensic unit staffed with people seconded from private practice like accountants, lawyers and investigators to dig into each and every state-owned enterprise, whether the revelation of malfeasance comes from the Zondo Commission into state capture or not.

This is just grand theft on steroids and has to be stopped, and the culprits at the root of the problem held accountable.

A special prosecuting unit should also be set up to back up the forensic investigating unit and put an end to the looting.

I would vote for a political party and support a president who puts this into action.
