DURBAN - A 70-year-old man was killed today in a farm attack in Howick in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.

The incident was confirmed by Midlands EMS in Howick and the SAPS.

Midlands EMS Howick said in a statement that its paramedic crews attended the scene.

“On arrival it was found that one person had sustained fatal injuries and was tied up outside the house. The patient was declared deceased by paramedics on the scene.”

Midlands EMS added that all local authorities were in attendance.

Police provincial spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele confirmed the incident.

“Today at 7am, police received a report of a murder at a farm in Howick. On arrival they were shown the body of a 70-year-old man who was lying outside the house with assault wounds on the face and two stab wounds at the back.”

Mbele said it was discovered that three firearms and a laptop were stolen.

“Charges of murder and robbery were opened for investigation at Howick police station.”
