DURBAN - One person has died and another was injured after an accident involving a truck and a vehicle on the R61 near Ramsgate on the South Coast this morning.

According to Robert McKenzie, spokesperson for Emergency Medical Services, one person sustained fatal injuries and another has been treated for minor injuries by the paramedics.

He said the cause of the crash was not yet known.

Meanwhile two people were seriously injured in a pedestrian accident on NMR Avenue in Durban Central just before 7am on Tuesday.

ALS Paramedics Medical Services arrived on the scene after an accident involving a motorbike and a pedestrian.

Paramedic Garrith Jamieson said the biker sustained serious injuries and was stabilised by ALS Paramedics before being taken to a nearby hospital.

“The pedestrian also sustained serious injuries and was stabilised before being taken to hospital,” he said.

He said at this stage the events leading up to the accident were unknown.
