DURBAN - Thirteen people were injured on Thursday after a taxi rolled near the Umhlali River bridge on the N2.

The injuries ranged from moderate to serious and caused major traffic delays along the N2 according to IPSS Medical Rescue, whose paramedics responded to the scene.

“IPSS Medical Rescue transported eight patients to nearby facilities for further treatment.The other five patients were transported by various other emergency medical services.”

In a separate incident, The Mercury newspaper reported that on Wednesday night, a collision between a taxi and a truck left 13 people injured.

IPSS Medical Rescue said in that incident, emergency services arrived at a chaotic scene with 13 patients having sustained critical to serious injuries.

“IPSS Medical advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise five patients who were then transported to a nearby facility for further care.”

IPSS added that eight patients were treated and transported to hospital by various other services, including Alert and EMRS. Unfortunately one person sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.”
