DURBAN - Four suspects were apprehended by Blue Security’s Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) in Glenwood while searching for their next victim after they allegedly robbed two pedestrians in Seaview on Friday.

In a statement, Blue Security said the armed robbery suspects' reign of terror ended abruptly in Glenwood.

“The suspects started their day in Seaview where they held up a victim at gunpoint for her phone and valuables,” said the security company.

CCTV footage of the robbery in Royston Road was posted on Facebook.

In the video a maroon vehicle is seen driving down the quiet road before coming to a stop.

A man is seen jumping out of the driver’s side back passenger door. He then walks to the back of the vehicle and opens the boot.

He busies himself with something in the boot while waiting for another vehicle to pass.

Two pedestrians are then seen walking towards the vehicle on the opposite side of the road.

The suspect quickly walks towards them with his arm outstretched pointing a gun at one of the pedestrians, who is carrying an umbrella and a backpack. As he pushes the pedestrian to the ground two more suspects jump out of the vehicle.

Two of the suspects search the pedestrian on the ground while the third searches the other person. Seconds later, the men, one of which is seen putting something in his pocket, jump back into the vehicle and they flee the scene.

Blue Security said the CCPU team received intelligence of the known armed robbery suspects and a description of their vehicle which was used in previous crimes.

“Our highly skilled CCPU officer was hot on the suspects’ trail and intercepted the vehicle on Rick Turner Road before they had the chance to find their next victim. The suspects were immediately apprehended with a firearm and stolen phones in their possession,” it said.
