Pretoria - Chris Hani killer's Janusz Walus was yet again refused parole by Justice Minister Michael Masutha.

The minister, briefing the media on Wednesday, said there were conflicting psychological reports regarding Walus.

"Having considered the various reports of psychologists and apparent contradictions arising therein, it was difficult for me to make a determination on the suitability for placement on parole at this stage. I have therefore come to the following decision.

"The placement of the offender on parole is not granted," Masutha announced.

Both Walus' own psychologist and that of state must jointly assess him and submit a report to the minister.

The minister said a further profile regarding Walus must be submitted to him within six months for his reconsideration.

Last year, the Gauteng High Court, Pretoria, set aside the latest refusal by the minister to place the 63-year-old convicted killer on parole.

Judge Selby Baqwa referred the matter back to Masutha, and said the minister must, within 120 days of this order, reconsider parole.

The judge further ordered that Masutha had to make his decision after Walus was given the opportunity to respond to a previous report by the Parole Board, in which it was stated that Walus regretted killing Hani the husband and father, but that he did not regret that he had shot Hani the communist.
