Johannesburg - The dynamic duo of Max Coleman and Jack Scott-King are at it again, and this time, they are assisting this year’s matric class and their parents, where it matters the most, in their pockets.

The pair founded their EdTech business, SubjeX, in 2017, with the objective of providing students with a single platform to access relevant academic information.

SubjeX’s initial offering was to help students make key Grade 9 subject choices and further explore the South African educational system. The Redhill MasterClass Series, powered by SubjeX, provides extensive pre-recorded online lessons to help the class of 2021, and now they have announced an exciting price decrease for 2021 Matrics.

This comes alongside the brand-new launch of eight Department of Basic Education (DBE) subjects and even more Independent Examinations Board (IEB) subjects than before. Each subject contains numerous lessons which can be accessed online via a computer or smartphone. The platform allows for continuous and unlimited access to purchased lessons, which expire at the end of the calendar year.

Executive Head at Redhill School Joseph Gerassi said the decision to include eight DBE core subjects in this year’s MasterClasses was an easy one.

“Grade 12 students around the country have lost a vast amount of contact school days over the past two years. There is an urgent need to recover as much learning as possible in the coming months without adding an additional financial burden on financially strained parents. It made sense to make these MasterClasses available to as many Matric students in both the IEB and DBE as possible.”

The IEB full bundle with all 13 subjects is priced at R750.00 once-off, with the DBE full bundle hosting all eight subjects is priced at R350.00 once-off.

Each subject contains up to 45 recorded lessons. SubjeX also offers complimentary access to their online MasterClasses to Grade 12 students at three pre-identified NGOs: ISchoolAfrica, Tomorrow Trust and the Alexander Education Committee. The duo said they would continue to find opportunities to assist learners with limited educational resources.

“When we first launched SubjeX, we were students ourselves and could relate on a personal level to the unique challenges that students face,” said Coleman and Scott-King.

“Our aim is that these MasterClasses will not only assist students around the country but also the thousands of teachers who have been trying to help students do the best they possibly can amid incredibly challenging circumstances”, concluded Gerassi.
