Johannesburg - In just under a month's time, South Africa will play hosts to yet another mammoth global sporting event.

This time, the beautiful and scenic city of Cape Town will welcome the best Sevens rugby nations in the world as they battle it out to win the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 tournament.

The tournament will be played over three days at the Cape Town Stadium September 9 to 11.

This will be the first senior Rugby World Cup hosted in South Africa since 1995 and the host nation is determined to make it as special in its own way.

With Castle Lite announced as an official global partner the host nation are determined to make it an exhilarating and fun tournament.

The popular beer brand has revealed their plans for the tournament, with a Lite ’n Up Campaign one of the exciting reveals ahead of the tournament as well as introducing a fan village which will be an integral part of the fun during the tournament. The fan village will only be made available to Rugby World Cup Sevens South Africa 2022 ticket holders and will not be open to the general public.

They will also deliver on the most exciting entertainment line-ups for the weekend of the tournament.

To get rugby fans in the country excited for the tournament next month, the beer brand hosted an event last weekend in Cape Town, where they spent some up close and personal time with South African Sevens Rugby Coach Neil Powell in the locker rooms at Cape Town Stadium locker room.

Powell sat in the locker room and outlined his secrets to success. He has also encouraged all South Africans to come out and support the team ahead of the tournament.

The Springbok Sevens Team have their work cut out as defending champions New Zealand stand in their way.

New Zealand head to South Africa as defending champions in both the men’s and women’s tournaments after the Black Ferns Sevens and All Blacks Sevens made history in San Francisco four years ago.

Both Kiwi teams will have to be at their best if they are to retain their crowns again, though, with double men’s Olympic Champions Fiji, women’s Rio gold medallists and hosts South Africa among those keen to end their respective reigns.

Twelve teams – four women’s and eight men’s have pre-qualified for RWC Sevens 2022 thanks to their performance at the previous tournament in San Francisco.

New Zealand, France, Australia and the USA booked their place in Cape Town by reaching the women’s semi-finals at RWC Sevens 2018.

They will be joined by hosts South Africa, who were 14th four years ago.

A further 11 women’s teams have made sure of their place at RWC Sevens 2022 through regional qualifying.

Those are Japan, China, Fiji, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, Madagascar, England, Ireland, Poland and Spain.
