Johannesburg - Mr Price has become the first fashion retailer in Africa to enter the Metaverse and to mint its fashion to the blockchain for the world to see, and someone to own.
The fashion outlet's introduction to the digital universe, which is a place parallel to the physical world where users spend their digital life, is a move made possible by MetaLabs, a company which has become the first on the continent to launch into the Metaverse.
As part of entering the Metaverse, Mr Price launched nine one of a kind NFT (a non-fungible token is a record on a blockchain which is associated with a particular digital or physical asset) artworks in a competition that runs only on Monday on its Instagram page.
The competition’s winners will be able to use the NFTs as Avatars in the Metaverse as well as win R10 000 each.
Branded NFTs offer passionate customers collectable virtual goods that generate brand engagement, unlock new experiences, foster a passionate community, add new revenue, and will be critical assets for upcoming virtual worlds.
To win an NFT, social media users need to answer the question: "What is your most unbelievable moment of 2022"
