2017 class of matric ready for exams.

Durban - It's all systems go, as the 2017 class of matric, began their exams today.   

The MEC for Education in KwaZulu-Natal, Mthandeni Dlungwana, and the Head of Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal, Dr Enoch Nzama, wished all matrics well. 

Computer Application Technology, was written today (October 16), followed by Information Technology practical paper tomorrow (October 17).

On Monday, the majority of pupils will sit for English P1 on October 24. 

The Department of Education said it was ready.

"All processes, from the registration of examination centres, to the release of results have been planned for," said KZN spokesman Kwazi Mthetwa.

193 768 matric pupils are set to write the exams.

Interestingly the majority of pupils are female, 85 299 females in comparison to 68 325 males.

The selection of markers was done during the July and August period and 7862 Markers will be appointed.

Marking will take place at 27 centres throughout the province, and will commence on December 1 and conclude on December 15.

Results will be released on January 5, 2018.
