Durban - There were no protestors outside the Verulam Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, ahead of the court appearance of Phoenix mother and her boyfriend accused of beating the woman's child and recording in on their cellphones.
The couple who are out on bail made a brief appearance on Tuesday morning.
The matter was adjourned to October 5 for further investigation.
The 25-year-old woman and her 20-year-old boyfriend have been charged with attempted murder.
The mother is alleged to have kicked and stomped on her 4-year-old daughter for allegedly wetting her bed. The video went viral in March and the couple was arrested thereafter.
Both the accused were supported by their families.
They did not make any eye contact with each other during court proceedings.
Both left the courthouse immediately after their appearance.
The child who sustained multiple injuries is living with relatives.
Her mother in not allowed to make contact with her.
