Man, 23, arrested after Tongaat woman found dead in abandoned building
Durban - A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the murder of a 22-year-old Tongaat woman whose half naked body was found in an abandoned building on Sunday morning.
Captain Nqobile Gwala of KZN SAPS confirmed the arrest.
“A male suspect was arrested yesterday in Tongaat for murder. He will appear in the Verulam Magistrate's Court soon," said Gwala.
According to family members, the deceased Komell Pillay fondly known as Delicia, failed to return home after she went to a local nightclub with a female friend on Saturday night.
Her sister, Desray said they tried to make contact with her on Sunday but Pillay did not have her phone with her.
The family later received a call from police stating Pillay’s body was found in an abandoned building in Brake Village.
Gounden said speculations that she was strangled and raped was unfounded at this time, as the post mortem results have yet to be released.
