Letter to the editor - IN RESPONSE to the article about the SAA stewardess charged for alleged cocaine possession, please be informed of the following before coming to any conclusion.

This particular girl is an air hostess; anything could happen to her carrying luggage in transit. Even the hotel rooms they stay in are not safe. Anybody could secretly stick things in their luggage.

My daughter is an air hostess and I always ask her to keep her eyes peeled, trust her instincts and trust no one, not even her best friend. Even the smooth talking man with the three piece suit and tie could be a rogue. The drug trade is very sophisticated and drug kingpins are always trying new tricks to get their stuff from one place to another. I had to take my daughter to three interviews and lots of running around, absenting myself from work before she was accepted. My daughter does not do drugs, neither does she associate with anyone who does. As an air hostess, why would you take such a chance. In Arab countries and some Asian countries, you die for peddling drugs. So I don’t think a 32-year-girl would take that chance. The Australian authorities must investigate thoroughly before pronouncing guilt.
