Durban - Police are investigating a case of attempted rape and robbery after a Phoenix woman was accosted by an unknown man in her home on Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesperson for KZN VIP Security Gareth Naidoo said they responded to an emergency call at a gated complex in Northcroft.
"The resident was at home alone when the suspect entered her property and held her at knifepoint. He attempted to rob her and allegedly tried to rape her. When she screamed for help he fled."
Naidoo said neighbours rushed to her aid and found the woman severely traumatised.
"She was treated by our medical and rescue teams. According to the victim he was dressed in a black shirt and had scars on his face similar to tribal markings."
Naidoo warned women in the area to be vigilant.
Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said the incident is being investigated by police.
