THE Centre for Fine Art Animation and Design (CFAD) has just completed a successful winter vacation Young Artist Programme, where the prospective artists displayed their talent at an exhibition at its new headquarters on the Berea.

More than 70 learners joined up for the boot-camp and were divided into two teams: from 10 to 13 years and 14-year-olds and older.

CFAD’s Nanda Soobben said there had been some great talent this year and the youngsters had learned some useful skills, including working on some of the latest software on Apple Macs. The project was based on a similar programme run at the San Francisco Art Institute where youngsters, aged between 10 and 18, were are put through an intensive art “boot-camp”.

The modules covered were drawing, painting, computer graphics, animation and design. The students received certificates.
