Durban - This month will mark a year that 7-year-old Sloan Prins was found dead in an upmarket guesthouse in Umhlanga. He had been allegedly been drugged and suffocated to death.

His mother Megan Prins, 34, a project manager in the medical field has been charged for his murder.

The NPA spokesperson Natasha Kara confirmed that Prins trial has been set for October.

She is currently out on R3 000 bail.

As part of Prins' bail conditions, she is not allowed to make contact with State witnesses and has to report to the Mayville police station every Monday.

The Sunday Tribune had reported that the mother had attempted to take her own life by slitting her wrists after her son’s death.

They reported that the owner of the uMhlanga guest house, who did not want to be named, said her family had been left traumatised by the incident because they also lived on the property.
