Durban — An alleged headless body was discovered in a sugar cane field outside Durban recently.

Police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said that on Thursday at 11.20am, Greenwood Park police received a complaint of a dead body on the N2 southbound and proceeded to the scene.

“On arrival, they were shown the decomposed body of an unknown man believed to be in his late forties. The deceased was wearing greyish trousers, a brown T-shirt and black and white takkies,” Ngcobo said.

She said that an inquest docket was opened at Greenwood Park police station for investigation.

KZN VIP spokesperson Gareth Naidoo said that a beheaded body was discovered on the N2 southbound before the PetroPort garage in the grass area.

He said that KZN VIP medics attended along with the police.

Naidoo said that the circumstances leading to the incident were unconfirmed at this stage pending a police investigation.

“The body had been decomposing,” Naidoo added.
