DURBAN - THE owner of well-known entertainment hub, Max's Lifestyle in uMlazi, Max Mqadi has been rushed to hospital after surviving an assassination attempt.

The incident took place at about 7pm on Thursday when Mqadi was leaving his business premises in uMlazi, south of Durban.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele, Mqadi was getting in his car preparing to leave when two armed men approached him and started firing shots.

Mbele said he managed to drive away until he reached the city centre on Florida Road where he asked for help and was rushed to uMhlanga Hospital.

Security guard services, Task Force Protection Services, who posted after 9pm on Thursday, also confirmed the incident.

The service said he had sustained four gunshot wounds.

Details are still sketchy at this stage as this is a developing story.

Once news broke of Mqadi’s attack, Twitter erupted with messages of support. Many were praying for Mqadi to pull through.

Max's Lifestyle is a popular entertainment venue in the country and world renowned but after it was recently crowned as one of the best restaurants. The venue is a drawcard for Durban tourism and has hosted many big names in the entertainment industry.
