Durban - The Tongaat SAPS has arrested four suspects who had allegedly been terrorising oThongathi and surrounding communities.

Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said Tongaat police followed up on information about suspects who had apparently been terrorising the community in oThongathi and surroundings, on Wednesday at 2.30am.

“They then proceeded to the Seatides informal settlement where four suspects, aged between 18 and 46 were, found in possession of two toy guns, fishing rods, clothing, cellphones, wristwatches and bank cards,” Gwala said.

“All four suspects were placed under arrest and charged for possession of property suspected to be stolen.”

Gwala said the suspects were expected to appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court soon.

Information received by the Daily News indicated that the suspects had allegedly been terrorising the community mainly around oThongathi beaches and surrounding areas.

“They were all detained at SAPS Tongaat police cells and they will be linked to the many cases that have been reported recently at SAPS Tongaat,” read the information.

Station commander Colonel Santha Moodley commended the members for their commitment and dedication that had led to the arrest of suspects.
