Guide on which KZN Driving Licensing Testing Centres will be opened over the weekend this March

DURBAN - The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport has provided information on which of their Drivers' License Testing Centres (DLTCs) would be opened on weekends this month.

The department also provided information on the Umbilo Motor Licensing Bureau.

The department said DLTCs offered drivers’ licensing-related services such as learners’ and drivers’ licensing, bookings for learners’ and drivers’ tests as well as testing, renewal of drivers’ licences, applications for and renewals of professional driving permits (PrDPs) and collections of drivers’ licence cards.

They did not offer motor vehicle licensing services unless otherwise stated:

Rossburgh DLTC will be open to the public on both Saturdays and Sundays on all weekends in March 2022 between 7.30am and 1.30pm. All driver licence-related services will be provided.

The number of customers attended will be limited to comply with Covid-19 regulations.

Empangeni DLTC will not be opening on weekends during March 2022.

Normal office hours apply, ie Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 7.30am to 2.30pm and on Wednesday between 8.45am - 2.30pm.

Mkondeni DLTC will not be opening on weekends during March 2022.

Normal office hours apply, ie Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 7.30am to 2.30pm and on Wednesday between 8.45am - 2.30pm.

Newcastle DLTC will not be opening on weekends during March 2022.

Normal office hours apply, ie Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 7.30am to 2.30pm and on Wednesday between 8.45am - 2.30pm.

“Members of the public must bring an eye certificate from an optometrist as well as proof of physical residence that is not older than three months. You also need to produce your identity book or identity smartcard,” the department said.

“Umbilo Motor Licensing Bureau will be open on all Saturdays from 07.45am to 2.30pm going forward for members of the public, however, no dealer transactions will be attended to on weekends.”

The department said municipality-run drivers’ licence testing centres would be open on weekends during March 2022 as follows:

Verulam DLTC is open to the public on Saturdays - March 5, March 12, March 19 and March 26, between 7am and 2pm for all drivers licence-related transactions.

It will also be open on the following Sunday - March 6 and March 20 for driving licence renewals but scheduled appointments only.

Verulam Motor Licencing is open from 7.30am to 12h30 for all motor vehicle transactions.

Winkelspruit DLTC March 5, March 12, March 19 and March 26, between 7am and 2pm for all drivers’ licence-related transactions.

The department said additionally, they will be open for scheduled appointments on the following Sundays, March 6 and March 20 for drivers licence renewals only.

Winkelspruit Motor Licensing will open on March 5, March 12, March 19 and March 26, from 7.30am to 12.30pm for all motor vehicle transactions.

Umhlanga Motor Licensing will be open on March 5, March 12, March 19 and March 26, from 7.30am to 12.30pm for all motor vehicle transactions.

KwaDukuza (Stanger) DLTC and Motor Licensing Office will be open on March 5 and March 19 from 7am to 1pm.

The DLTC will offer all services except the examination of driver tests. The Motor Licensing Office will offer all services related to motor vehicle transactions.

Ballito Motor Licensing Office will be open on March 12 and 26 from 8.15am to 1pm.

The office will only deal with the renewal of vehicle licences.

Please note:

  • All offices will be closed on Monday, March 21, 2022, due to the public holiday.
  • Verulam DLTC and Winklespruit DLTC, falling under the eThekwini Municipality, are offering bookings for drivers licence renewals;
  • If and when further information is received regarding other DLTC weekend openings, this information will be added to this notification;
  • We request that you do not inquire regarding other DLTCs that are not listed in this notification. If and when these are received, this notification will be updated;
