DURBAN - A private security company recovered a Mercedes-Benz within minutes of it being hijacked in the south of Durban on Monday.

PT Alarms said the vehicle was recovered within minutes of an armed hijacking in Jacobs.

The company said a PT Alarms client was elated when his vehicle was recovered within minutes by PT Alarms Tactical Tracker unit in uMlazi after he was accosted at gunpoint in Jacobs.

“The vehicle owner was accosted by a gang of armed suspects who took possession of his white Mercedes and sped off.

“It is alleged that the suspects arrived in an Avanza,” PT Alarms said.

PT Alarms said immediately, the PT Alarms control room received a panic and all units were deployed.

“The vehicle which contained the owner’s valuables was tracked via a cellphone by PT Tactical Unit.

“The vehicle was recovered in uMlazi F section and was found still idling while the suspects fled.

“The inside of the vehicle was stripped,” PT Alarms said.

The company added that their tactical unit was assisted and backed up by the uMlazi SAPS K9 unit and Tracker Connect.
