DURBAN - PREMIER Sihle Zikalala has vowed to spare no effort in the struggle to grow the provincial economy and to create a conducive environment for job creation.

He said economic recovery and economic transformation was a priority for the provincial government in 2022.

“We welcome 2022 with hope and optimism. As difficult and challenging as it was, 2021 demonstrated that we can solve even the greatest of problems when we work together.

“We pledge to spare no effort in the struggle to grow the provincial economy and to create a conducive environment for job creation and prosperity,” he said.

Zikalala said he was encouraged and inspired by the resilience, patience and patriotism demonstrated by millions of citizens.

He urged citizens to continue taking proper measures against the Covid-19 pandemic to ensure protection, and to unite to end gender-based violence and win the battle against crime.

“Our hearts and prayers are with those who have lost their loved ones in the year. Together we have endured, and together we must continue to defeat Covid-19, let us vaccinate and rebuild our economy to create jobs. On behalf of the provincial government we convey our best wishes to all citizens as we journey towards 2022,” Zikalala said.

“We enter the New Year in high spirits, encouraged by the progress we have made together under challenging circumstances in 2021. Let us seize the newness of this year to plant the seeds of peace and love, so they flourish as the year progresses. May the year ahead bring joy, fulfilment and prosperity!”
