DURBAN - A multidisciplinary team arrested three suspects who had stolen batteries from a parked truck.

ET Rapid Response managing director Tony Lokker said private security personnel had received information about a vehicle that was used in a theft from a truck in eManzimtoti on Tuesday around midday. The vehicle was spotted travelling along the N2 southbound.

Lokker said the exhibits were two Exide Silver Calcium 12v batteries, a range of tools, reflector jacket and gloves and a white Ford Focus used in the commission of the crime.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said Amanzimtoti SAPS were investigating a case of theft from a motor vehicle.

“A complainant alleged that on February 15, 2022, between 12.50pm and 1.06pm, he parked his truck on Arbour Road in the eManzimtoti area when three unknown suspects alighted from a vehicle and removed the batteries from the truck. The suspects fled the scene in their getaway vehicle.”
