Durban — A wanted theft suspect was arrested after a short foot chase in the Glen Hills area recently.

Marshall Security director Tyron Powell said a suspect was arrested after a short chase when their officers responded to a theft incident that had taken place in the Glen Hills area on Thursday.

Powell said that at about 4.10pm, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre was informed by a client in Hudson Place that a suspect had just stolen their brush cutter from their garage.

Multiple armed response officers and Special Operations Team members were dispatched and advised to be on the lookout for the wanted suspect, who was spotted a few minutes later walking on North Coast Road.

“The suspect noticed our team members approaching, dropped the stolen brush cutter, and immediately started to flee on foot. After a short foot chase, the suspect was arrested at the intersection of North Coast Road and Moreland Drive in the Avoca area by members of our Special Ops Team,” Powell explained.

He said the Greenwood Park SAPS were informed and they arrived on the scene.

“The suspect and the stolen brush cutter were handed over to Greenwood Park SAPS, where the suspect was then transported to the police station and he will be charged with theft,” Powell said.

Police were approached for comment but had not commented by the time of publication.
