Durban - For lovers of funky retro and wacky vintage, Saturday sees the unveiling of a new antique fair in Durban.

Called the WAF, the Windermere Antique Fair opens on Saturday on the ground floor of the Windermere Centre from 8.30am until 3.00pm.

The fair will be staged on the first Saturday every second month, alternating with the months in which the popular La Lucia Antique Fair takes place.

Expect dealers at tables specialising in everything from vintage jewellery, beautiful cut crystal glassware, to porcelain and silver and some fun and offbeat collectibles.

Organiser Helen Clementz encouraged people to come and browse: “You will hopefully find something you have always been looking for… from something exquisite to go on best laid table, to that really odd decor item that will fill a corner of the toilet or even the garden. If you like it, but it… or someone else will.

Clementz said the idea was also to bring an antique fair back to Durban. “Many will remember the successful fair at the bottom of Windermere Road, and the one in Florida Road. They were always fun occasions. We’re thrilled the Windermere Centre was only too keen to have us. And we will have a pianist playing the centre’s baby grand. We may even have a singer.

“So come laugh at the WAF,” she said.

For more information call Clementz on 031 312 8808.
