Durban - Little has changed at the pools at Brighton Beach on the Bluff. The picture on the left shows the packed pool area in the late 1960s taken from a post in the Durban Down Memory Lane Facebook site this week. Inset is a picture of the car park from the same period.
Brighton Beach is world famous for its surf spot Cave Rock, enticing surfers from all over the world. The beach also remains unspoilt by
high-rise buildings, and the thick vegetation bordering the Bluff coastline is home to monkeys and mongoose. Brighton Beach is in essence part of the Bluff Nature Reserve, Durban’s oldest nature reserve.
The picture taken by Sibusiso Ndlovu this week shows pretty much the same scene, although with schools back and it being mid-winter, it’s without the numerous sun worshippers.
