DURBAN - EThekwini Municipality will host its first online auction this week, taking place over two days.

The online auction of vehicles, office furniture and equipment will be held on 16 and 17 September.

“A selection of vehicles and redundant assets-including computers, laptops, printers, furniture, and other miscellaneous items will be sold,” said the municipality.

The auction will be conducted in partnership with Auction Specialist and the process will be quick, safer and effective, it said.

Head of the municipality’s supply chain management unit André Petersen said eThekwini was excited to launch the inaugural online auction.

“We extend a special invitation to all previously disadvantaged individuals to participate to assist the City to advance our radical economic transformation objectives,” he said.

Viewing will be available from 13 to 15 September on 11 Electron Road in Springfield, the municipality said.

“Registration is currently open and will close on 15 September at 12pm. Bidding opens at 8am on 16 September and closes at 10am on 17 September,” it added.

One of the items up for auction is a 1998 Isuzu F500 with an opening bid of R60,000 while the bid increment is R1500.
