DURBAN - Three people were seriously injured in a collision on the corner of Bartle Road and Sphiwe Zuma (Queen Mary) Avenue in the Umbilo area of Durban on Wednesday.
ALS Paramedics Medical Services spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said they received multiple calls after 10am about a serious collision.
He said ALS Paramedics Medical Services together with Emer-G-Med and Life Response arrived on the scene to find that the vehicles had collided at the intersection, with one overturning.
“Two people were trapped in the wreckage and were freed by bystanders,” said Jamieson.
He said advanced life support paramedics tended to two patients while the third was treated by another emergency service.
“Three people sustained serious injuries and were stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital,” he said.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, a motorcyclist was involved in an accident in Ballito.
Medi Response spokesperson Paul Herbst said Medi Response advanced life support paramedics alongside Lenmed EThekwini paramedics responded to the scene.
Herbst said paramedics stabilised the patient and an Air Mercy Service aeromedical helicopter was dispatched.
“Medi Response crews stabilised and prepared the patient for upliftment. Air Mercy Services helicopter landed at the Odyssey Day Hospital and airlifted the man to eThekwini Hospital, to an awaiting surgical team,” said Herbst.
