Planned 12-hour water supply shutdown in KwaDukuza area

KwaDukuza Municipality said the water shutdown would commence on Saturday at 6pm and that water tankers would be provided.

DURBAN - KwaDukuza Municipality announced the shutdown to the lower Thukela bulk water supply from Saturday May 21 at 6pm to Sunday at 6am.

In a statement on Wednesday, the municipality said Umgeni Water had requested a planned shutdown tomorrow, commencing at 6pm.

“The reason for the shutdown is for Umgeni to repair another leak on the gravity line main from Command Reservoir to KwaDukuza supply,” it said.

The areas that will be affected include:

  • Shekembula
  • Ohlange
  • Mdlebeni
  • Lindelani
  • Shakaville
  • Zamani
  • Darnall
  • Zinkwazi
  • Blythedale
  • Stanger Manor
  • Warrenton
  • Doesburg
  • High Ridge
  • KwaDukuza Central Business District
  • Glenhills
  • Nyoniyamanzi
  • Lot 16
  • Gledhow North
  • Ntshawini
  • Groutville
  • Mission
  • Thembeni
  • Dube Village
  • Malende
  • Hangoes
  • Zilungisele.

The municipality said water tankers would be deployed.

“The District Municipality and Umgeni Water apologise profusely for the inconvenience. Your patience and understanding will be highly appreciated,” it said.
