Johannesburg - This week we feature guitarist, singer, songwriter, and globally respected purveyor of the blues, Dan Patlansky.

With nine studio albums to his name and for the last 10 years receiving legendary status as globally respected purveyor of the blues, Patlansky is one of the world’s finest blues-based storytellers of his generation.

He was voted the number four Best Guitarist in the world, and remains the only artist in the world with two worldwide number one Best Blues Rock albums to his name, as voted by “Blues Rock Review USA”.

In February 2014, Dan was chosen to open for Bruce Springsteen in front of 64 000 people at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, the biggest audience he has ever played to, on his High Hopes tour.

With a barrage of brilliantly executed electric and acoustic blues rock albums released since 1999, Dan’s albums brought with him a tighter and more engaging lyrical twist and even more interesting turns with each release, all of which led beautifully to his much-anticipated 2014 full- electric album released in May.

In December 2014, “Dear Silence Thieves” (produced by Theo Crous) was voted the number one Blues Rock Album in the world by “Blues Rock Review USA”, alongside names such as Joe Bonamassa, Rival Sons, Devon Allman, The Black Keys, Philip Sayce and many more.

His latest album, “Shelter of Bones”, was released in February this year.

The greatest guitarist to ever live is...?

Greatest guitar player is impossible to say, but my all-time favourite player is Stevie Ray Vaughan. He is everything I want to hear in a guitar player – power, soul, technique and tone.

You can share a stage with any musician in the world. Who do you choose to share the stage with and why ?

Probably Eric Gales, as he is one of the most incredible musicians alive today.

The one thing that most people don’t know about you is….?

I’m a full-blown introvert at heart.

Your favourite take-out meal is…?

Rocomama’s Chilli Cheese Bomb Burger.

My Jeffery West Alligator Boots.

How would you like to be remembered?

As a passionate guitarist, and a great dad and husband.

You are able to invite any three guests in the world for a dinner party at your home. Which three guests do you choose to invite ?

Eric Gales, Lance Lopez and Jesse Davey.

In your opinion... what makes a great guitarist?

Someone who plays honestly, and plays what they are truly passionate about. That’s always a great combination.

If there was one musician who has passed on that you could bring back to life, who would it be?

It's a toss-up between Stevie Ray Vaughan and Chris Cornell.
