South African model Candice Swanepoel, 29, who fills a Victoria’s Secret piece of lingerie in a way that makes the average woman long for her curves, has lashed out at those who have made fun of an extra curve on her body - the tiny bump left by her pregnancy.

Instagram haters this week made fun of Swanepoel’s body as she cavorted on a beach in Victoria, Brazil, in a sleek, black peek-a-boo bathing suit. In fact, she looks svelte and trim, with a sculpted derriere, despite giving birth to her son, Ariel Swanepoel Nicoli, just two weeks ago.

Refusing to be shamed, Swanepoel hit back at the Mother Grundies: “This is me 12 days after having my son. If you have something bad to say about it check yourself. Society can be so cruel to one another. Beauty standards are sometimes impossible for women these days.

“I’m not ashamed to show my post-partum tummy. I am proud actually. I carried my son for nine months in there. I think I’ve earned the right to have a little tummy. Is it because I’m a model? Well, we are normal people too so let me enjoy the beach in peace please.”

The Sunday Tribune recalls how actress Demi Moore posed naked for a photo shoot many years ago, in the final months of her pregnancy. It struck a chord that resounded with many - being pregnant gives women a special air of beauty.
