Celebrities send well wishes to Lira

Durban - Local celebrities have taken to Twitter to shower their heartfelt speedy recovery messages for songstress Lira.

This follows after singer, whose full name is Lerato Molapo, suffered a stroke.

According to a statement issued by her management team Lira, 44, suffered a stroke in Germany.

“To Lira’s beloved fans, clients and associates: As Lira's family, we would like to take this opportunity to share some recent developments regarding Lira’s health. Lira recently travelled to Germany for a performance but unfortunately suffered a stroke while there. As a result, her ability to communicate, in particular, her speech, has been impacted,” said her team.

Many celebrities have shown how sad they are with the fact that the South African Music Award (SAMA) winner is not well.

Messages have been pouring in on Twitter with people wishing the singer well as this would be a major loss in the music industry.

Among the celebrities who have sent their love and prayers to the 44-year-old multi-award winning songbird was the host of 947 FM Weekend Breakfast, Hulisani Ravele.

“Her medical team has advised that her journey to recovery will require patience and therefore, it is unlikely that she will be able to perform in the short term,” the statement further read.

Bongo Maffin lead vocalist, Thandiswa Mazwai, also wished the singer well.

Carte Blanche also sent their love to Lira, wishing her a speedy recovery.

Her team assured fans that Lira is in good spirits and being well taken care of by her loved ones and close friends.

According to the team, Lira is currently undergoing treatment here in the country, led by the best medical team available.

The Feel Good singer’s team has expressed their gratitude.

“We thank you all in advance for your prayers, support, kindness and utmost sensitivity and consideration during this very challenging time in her life,” said the statement.
