PHEW!

For the first time in a bit, there is no football on the television screens today (Friday) as the remaining 16 national teams prepare for the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The world cup, which is watched by virtually everyone, has seen us ladies blocked from watching some of our most favourite shows.

But, it hasn’t all been a boring experience as there is lots of eye candy on the football greens, and a lot of them have some good ‘footy’ skills to complement their natural good looks.

When one thinks of ‘good-looking’ footballers, you think of the well-kept well-dressed David Beckham, but since the free kick has since retired, here are some of the Top 5 hunks on the field at this world cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo - Portugal / Real Madrid

What’s the closest thing to David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo of course. On the pitch, there is no doubt who the star of the show is, and it is remarkable because both Becks and CR7 wore the same jersey #7 at Manchester United and shined, before moving to Real Madrid.

Cristiano, who is now 33, takes great care of his body - it looks as good as it did at 23 and he loves to show off his muscles when he scores big goals. (Don’t stop taking that shirt off Cristiano). With that cheeky smile, that six-pack bod of his; he gets an approval from woman every time. Right ladies?

Gerard Pique - Spain / FC Barcelona

Who wouldn’t notice Gerard Pique? The lanky defender’s looks are divine with his piercing eyes and quiffed hair, any lady would want to stare. But sorry ladies, he’s already got ‘Shakira Shakira’ wrapped around his arm, so no ‘Waka Waka’ here.

Brazil - Neymar - Brazil / FC Barcelona

Neymar is the youngest of our dashing hunks on the field. He is perhaps also the most colourful and animated, look how cute he is when they kick him and his ever-changing hairstyles. He has great taste in clothes too. Even his looks in terms of hairstyles have evolved - from blowouts to spikes to even his recently dyed bleached-blonde hair; Neymar is eye-candy for sure.

Olivier Giroud - France / Chelsea FC

This player is one of my favourites from France; because that’s the team that I support at this year’s world cup! Giroud is one of the best football players with a lot of team spirit and he plays with a lot of heart for his country. With his manly beard and big blue eyes, he can melt any girl’s heart and make them say, Oh-la-la.

Lionel Messi - Argentina / FC Barcelona

He is obviously one of the Greatest of All Time (aka GOATs), but many will not give him the greatest until he wins a World Cup for Argentina like Diego Maradona. Leo Messi has it all when it comes to footballing skills and he has won the Ballon D’ for five times. Messi has had many looks that appeal to all types of woman, from his slick haircut to his lushes locks and these days, he sports a massive beard. Messi, was my first ‘football crush’, so he has to feature here!
