Durban - The Durban fast food lovers can look forward to a mouthwatering competition as Assupol hosts another leg of the ‘’Kota making“ competition this Friday.

The competition comes after the successful leg titled “Kota Kwizine” was hosted in Gauteng, Polokwane and Limpopo recently.

Contestants will be tasked with attempting to recreate a Kota based on a curated menu developed by renowned KwaZulu-Natal chef Machili.

Local Kota businesses are encouraged to attend and register on the day at Max Lifestyle, uMlazi, to stand a chance to win some great prizes.

Registration will start from 9h30am, and the competition will run until 5pm on the day.

Early arrival at the venue is encouraged as a maximum of 500 people, inclusive of the contestants, will only be allowed.

Local celebrity judges will adjudicate the contenders’ dishes and announce the winners on the day.

Sizwe Tenza, Regional Manager at Assupol in KZN, said that this initiative is aimed at empowering local entrepreneurs through enterprise development.

“We have cash prizes up for grabs to enable these entrepreneurs to start up, thus keeping to our values as a business by serving the community.

“We’ve been serving communities in South Africa for over a 100 years, and besides our product and service offerings, we also serve our nation by giving back. The Kota Kwizine competition will give local businesses the opportunity to showcase their skills to local customers, as well as a chance to win a cash prize,” he said.

Guests and supporters can look forward to entertainment pieces from Dj Tira, music from Gqom, Amapiano, Amabhinca and Indlamu to Hip Hop.

There will also be local and national artists such as comedian Felix Hlophe from Gagasi FM, Mroza Wangempela from Ukhozi FM, Elephant Noise, Dj Timber and many more.

Covid-19 protocols will be observed at the venue, and participants will be encouraged to wear masks and sanitise.
