Artscape will come alive when performers combine to reflect the incredible story of the Cape Cultural Collective (CCC).

The show Just Our Journey, co-hosted by the Artscape Theatre for the CCC’s annual Heritage Month programme, comes a year after its sold-out 10th anniversary Big Bash show.

Now in its 11th year, the collective was initiated by anti-apartheid activists and young post-apartheid poets who teamed up to host monthly cultural programmes featuring poetry, music and dance.

Director of The Big Bash, Shihaam Domingo, said: “I am amazed by the CCC’s depth of work and the impact it makes through choirs, cultural programmes, youth development and social cohesion initiatives. This story deserves to be told. I feel privileged to be directing this particular production.”

The powerful line-up of artists includes: Jill Levenberg of Suidooster and The Ellen Pakkies Story fame, super saxophonist Don Vino Prins, and the ever-rising Rosa choir.

CCC chairperson Mansoor Jaffer said: “We had no idea that the CCC would flourish in the way it has.

“The Artscape production brings together the artists, activists and audiences that together keep the dynamic Arts sector going and growing. We look forward to Just Our Journey as another major step in the unfolding CCC story.”

The Just Our Journey concert takes place at the Artscape Theatre on Monday at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost R100 from Computicket. Staff Writer
