7 things to enliven your weekend in Cape Town

With winter fooling Capetonians that spring is just around the corner, another action-packed weekend awaits the Mother City. But don't drive to the Cableway whatever you do, as it only reopens on Monday.

If you are in a poetic mood, try the Armchair Theatre in Observatory. The Word n Sound Poetry take place on the first Saturday of every month, 1.30-5pm. Tickets at the door. It's also the last chance to see Ruth First: 117 Days at Artscape, which ends on Saturday.

For those in need of a laugh or two, the Jive Cape Town Funny Festival 2018, until Sunday at the Baxter Theatre in Rondebosch, is a must-do. Otherwise pop in at the Cape Town Comedy Club at the Waterfront, which is on the go all weekend.

For those in the vicinity of Somerset West, The 60’s and 70’s Show ends at The Drama Factory on Saturday.

The Kalk Bay: Alchemy of Rock runs until August 28 and the Miracle of South Division Street at the Milnerton Playhouse until August 11.
