ACOUSTIC: Jeremy Loops

KOMMETJIE is gearing up for a “bigger and better” festival on November 24. The laid-back seaside village is a hive of activity preparing for the second event.

Visitors will be able to do some Christmas shopping while strolling through the village, sampling the wares of more than 100 crafters, or enjoying a bite to eat and a cappuccino while taking in the scenery.

For the more athletic day-tripper, activities for the day will include a scenic 10km fun run or 4km family walk, a surfing competition with a twist, an “Anything that Floats” competition, a skate-board park and competition. There will also be a Ms Kommetjie beauty pageant and talent competition.

Local extremist Andy de Klerk and his team aim to impress with dare-devil sky diving and Kommetjie’s local NSRI branch will also demonstrate life-saving skills, among other events.

The festival will again provide a platform for local musical talent with live acts from 12.30pm until late. The Fax Police will gig on the Surf Showdown @ Long Beach stage from 12.30pm to 1.30pm. On the Main Stage at Fisherman’s Restaurant at 1.30pm will be Harri & the Honkeys, followed by The Bootleggers, Hellfire Blues Club, Stamp, Barre Code, Jeremy Loops & Co, Trenton & Free Radical and Black Night.
