Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts

The summer sunset concerts in the lush, green, breathtaking botanical gardens have become a holiday must-do. 

Bring your picnic basket, your sun hat, sunscreen and your family, and watch live performances from some of the country’s best acts this year, like Mango Groove, Goldfish, Goodluck, Jeremy Loops and Freshly Ground. 

Tickets are available at www.webtickets.co.za and range from R135 to R385 depending on the act you want to see.

Moët & Chandon Champagne Tree

Open till January 3, the public are invited to view their interactive 10-metre tall Champagne Tree, made entirely of over 1 500 recycled Moët and Chandon champagne bottles. 

 This is featured at the Silo District in the V&A Waterfront.

King Kong Production

A classic historic musical that has received five-star reviews. The story portrays the life and times of a heavyweight boxer, Ezekiel Dlamini, known as “King Kong”. 

Presented by Eric Abraham and the Fugard Theatre, the production will run until February 2018, with tickets ranging between R130 and R280.

Light Space Life/Architectural Exhibition

SAOTA present their first exhibition, Light Space Life, an architectural exhibition highlighting the company’s past, present and future work around the globe. The Pop-up Gallery is featured at the Cape Institute for Architecture, 71 Hout St, CBD, Cape Town.

Black Coffee Shimmy Beach Residency

Award winning DJ Black Coffee will return to the beach cafe for a second season of Friday night shows, until January 5. Tickets range from R195 to R350.

Self Reflection by Benon Lutaaya

Eclectica Contemporary will be hosting a solo exhibition by Benon Lutaaya entitled Self Reflection. Hailing from Uganda, he is best known for his contemporary paper collage portraits. 

Lutaaya said: “In this particular exhibition, I’m re-examining my practice as an artist, the medium, techniques and concept as a whole. In my world, quality is measured by 'improvement' rather than 'change' for the sake of fitting into the bandwagon of the elitist, postmodern art burble.”

Comedy in the Vines

Spier Wine Farm will be presenting its Comedy in the Vines series featuring some of South Africa’s top comedians. Visitors can have some laughs, while enjoying a picnic on the grass. 

The next shows will feature Barry Hilton, December 23, Stuart Taylor, January 23, and Marc Lottering February, 24. Tickets cost R170.
