Cape Town - Police have launched a manhunt following a triple-murder in Delft on Sunday night.

Provincial police spokesperson Novela Potelwa said three men were shot and killed in Delft South just before 9pm.

“Police were called out to the Jerusalem informal settlement in Delft South where they found three men, one aged 22 and two 32 years of age, with gunshot wounds. The victims were declared dead by paramedics on the scene.

“Reports allege that yet-to-be identified gunmen opened fire on the three victims at about 8:50pm on Sunday evening and fled.

“The motive for the shooting incident is yet to be determined,” Potelwa said.

Meanwhile, police have arrested a suspect in connection with the alleged gang-related murder of a 39-year-old man in Parkwood at the weekend.

Police spokesperson Andrè Traut said on Saturday night that at around 7:10pm the man was shot and killed in Dove Road in what they believed was a gang related murder.

“Investigations by detectives led to the arrest of a 30- year-old male during the early hours of (Sunday) morning,” Traut said.

In an unrelated police intervention, members of the Anti-Gang Unit were deployed in Parkwood when they spotted a suspicious male with a firearm in Blackbird Avenue. The 24-year-old suspect was pursued and arrested in possession of a 7.65 pistol and ammunition.

Members of the AGU also reacted on intelligence during the early hours of Sunday and arrested a 41-year-old man at his residence in Conrad Avenue, Ottery in possession of a 9mm pistol and ammunition.

Once charged, the three suspects are expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s court.
