Cape Town – With only a day to go before the launch of his debut album, jazz guitarist Timothy Ehrenreich has promised a show that will “blow” the minds of his audience.

The 21-year-old from Mitchells Plain is set to release his album, For such a time as this, produced amid the mental challenges that came with lockdown during the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Having had a tough time during lockdown I thought this was just the right time to get my music out there and also inspire others,” he said.

The launch on Saturday at Zevenbosch Villa, Zevenwacht Estate will feature guest artists Alvin Dyers and Adelia Douw.

Now Ehrenreich has invited listeners to come and enjoy a show that will “blow their minds”.

“This is going to be a mind-blowing show. A spectacular line-up with a mix ... of all my influences. I would like for my audience to experience the journey with me, backed by some of the finest musicians in Cape Town and featuring the legendary Alvin Dyers and Adelia Douw.

“From the time the president spoke and the latest restrictions were put in place, I announced there was limited seating available; in that week we were sold out on tickets for the venue-based show.

“We still have live-stream tickets available though and I encourage people to make the purchase. It will be well worth it to come experience and support my journey as a young local musician,” said Ehrenreich.

Some of the highlights in his career included a performance at the 2019 Newport Jazz Festival in the US meeting George Benson and him sharing the lessons he learnt during his personal music career and travels to the US and Spain.

Ehrenreich's musical journey began at age 11 at the Ubuntu Music Academy where he studied under guitarist Rodney Adonis.

Under Adonis' tutelage, he developed a passion for jazz and in particular, the guitar, as the instrument for interpreting this unique form of music.

He drew the attention of local guitar legend, Derrick Scheepers, who also became an inspiring mentor, role model and close friend.

Under Scheepers’ expert guidance and influence, he quickly gained increased confidence and greatly expanded his musical skill and technique on guitar.

Tickets for the live stream which are still available cost R80. Doors open at 5pm for the 6pm show. To book a ticket, email [email protected] or contact Audra Hendricks on 074 766 8102.
