Cape Town – The Killarney International Raceway is set to fuse speed and music at the Summer Motorsport Festival in December.

Hosted by the Southern African Endurance Series (Saes), the festival takes place on December 10 and aims to make motorsport – once an exclusive participation sport reserved for the elite – accessible to all.

Music acts that cut across all genres, genders, and age groups have been lined up for the event.

There will be live music during the endurance race.

The line-up includes Zonke, Watershed, Oskido, Goodluck, Mdu Masilela and Shekinah, and a string of well-known DJs.

Saes chief executive Wayne Riddell said: “This approach with grass-roots development and support in the sport is the only sustainable model that will see the sport transform into an all-inclusive series. Endurance motor racing has proven a popular subject for depiction in video games, and on film – and it is only fitting that more is done at a grass-roots level to expose more people to the sport.”

The festival is the grand finale of the 2022 series championship, that will see more than 30 race cars take to the circuit in an attempt to gain endurance honours.

Tickets for the festival are on sale at Webtickets.
