Cape Town - Police have asked the public to help find a Zimbabwean father who is allegedly on the run with his daughter, without the mother's permission.
SAPS spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi said the man, known as Zvidzai Genius Matavikwa, took his two-year-old daughter Mika Zonke on Saturday, August 2, from his ex-girlfriend.
He was supposed to return the child later that day but never did.
Attempts to find him since then have been unsuccessful.
"Nyanga Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit are seeking the assistance from the public in a bid to locate the wanted suspect.
"According to reports, a Zimbabwean foreign national, known as Zvidzai Genius Matavikwa took his two-year-old daughter Mika Zonke on Saturday, July 2, 2022, from his ex-girlfriend, who is the mother of the victim. He told her that he intended to spoil his daughter for the day. Zvidzai never returned his daughter as agreed, after he left with her.
Attempts to make contact with Zvidzai, in a bid to return the daughter, were unsuccessful. The mother of the daughter reported the incident on Thursday July 7, 2022 and a missing person’s report was filed for further investigation. Mika Zonke was last seen wearing navy jeans, a pink jacket and pink boots
"Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the aforementioned suspect, is urged to call the investigating officer, Sgt Andiswa Dlokolo on 073 012 8918 or alternatively, call Crime Stop on 08600 10111."
